The map shown above shows a more detailed area that is currently being CONSTRUCTED for this section of the project.

To orient you, Cheat Lake, WV is to the left (South), Uniontown, PA is to the right (North) and Wheeling, WV would be in the upward direction (West).  The section of the above map in RED opened to traffic on March 1, 2000; the part in PURPLE is still under construction (primarily in West Virginia).  For information on the construction status in West Virginia, please click here.

The expressway will begin at the interchange of I-68 and WV-857 between Cheat Lake and Coopers Rock State Forest in Monongalia County, West Virginia. It will proceed northward, generally parallel to Route 857, and connect to PA-43 in Georges Township, Fayette County, west of the Fayette Business Park in Fairchance. Interchanges will provide access to I-68 and WV-857 in West Virginia as well as Gans Road, Ruble Mill Road and Big Six Road in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission will operate the expressway from Gans Road north to Fairchance as a toll road. Approximately two-thirds of the expressway will be in Pennsylvania.

There will be one mainline toll barrier - about a mile north of Ruble Mill Road. Ramp collection facilities will be built at the Ruble Mill Road interchange. Toll rates at the main toll barrier is $0.75 for two-axel vehicles and $0.50 per additional axel.
