EXPRESSWAY STATUS
WEST
VIRGINIA SECTION

2002
The
construction project for the Expressway (WV 43) from just north of CR 69117 to
just south of the Pennsylvania line was completed in the Summer of 2001. The
Division of Highways has awarded a contract for construction of the Rubles Run
Bridge, which is located at the State Line.
The structure should be completed in the Fall of 2002. The
design work and right-of-way acquisition to construct a truck escape ramp and
future 1-68 westbound lane to the Mon/Fayette northbound lane is basically
complete. The letting of the
contract for construction of this portion is dependent upon our ability to
obtain discretionary funding. The
right-of-way acquisition and plans for the Morgan Run Bridge and the
interchanges with CR 857 and CR 88/1 are basically complete.
Construction contracts can be awarded when sufficient funds are
available. These
projects will complete the Expressway in West Virginia.
Each project will take approximately two years to complete after receipt
of bids. The
two-mile section between Cheat Neck and the State Line can be opened for traffic
after the bridge at Morgan Run is completed and after a project for the
interchange at Cheat Neck is completed. No
schedule exists at this time due to funding. |
